Kurylo's Communication Links FAQ
This site was created and is maintained by Anastacia Kurylo, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Communication Arts, Division of the Humanities, Marymount Manhattan College
What is the goal of the
Kurylo's Communication Links website? My goal is to give you one stop access to
relevant communication sites. Why was this site
created? This site, originally titled On-Line Resources for Master's
Students Research, was created as part of a project presented at a
pre-convention conference titled Master's Degree Communication Programs:
Engaging in Shared Interests, Issues and Opportunities at the Seattle, 2000,
National Communication Association Convention. What is the most efficient way to use this
site? Look through the index and
click on the headings that are of interest. Under each of those headings there
will be several links. If you place your arrow over the links you will see a
brief description of the content of that web site. Web sites whose content is
obvious from the site name do not indicate further information when you place
your arrow over the link. If the
site looks interesting, check it out. Also, you can easily print out the index
or the weblinks list to have a hard copy for your files. What is the inclusion criteria for web sites in the
Kurylo's Communication Links website? I cast the net wide. Web sites that have relevance to
communication or social sciences more generally including teaching resources are
included. Sites will most likely appear in the English language; some sites may
have versions available in other languages. How are sites categorized?
Sites are categorized according to the most relevant heading.
Sites are usually only listed once though they may be relevant to several headings.
Those searching are encouraged to peruse the index for all headings potentially
relevant to your needs. In the Index, what does the number after the
heading indicate? The number in parenthesis after the heading in the
Index indicates the number of sites available in that section.
How many sites are currently linked to
Kurylo's Communication Links? Currently 399 sites are linked from
Kurylo's Communication Links.
What should I do if I want a site to be
included?
I welcome sites that fit
my broad criteria mentioned above. If you have a
site that you would like to be included on the Communication Links website please forward the link and if possible a sentence or two
indicating what is covered at the site to Anastacia Kurylo at
anastacia@kurylo.com.
How often is this web page updated?
This site is updated once every year during the summer as of 2008. When the
site is updated, dead links are removed. Sites that indicate where the page
relocated will be updated to include the new address. Sites which are no longer
active or which do not include new location information will be deleted. Sites
that indicate that they are temporarily under construction will not be
deleted. When was this site last updated?
This site was last updated on January 8th, 2010. As of that date new sites were added, moved sites were updated, and
dead links were removed.
What's new at the site as of the
last update?
Dead links have either been removed or updated to their new link, and new links were added. In a future update,
I will add more links. Please send me any sites you would like to see appear
here.
