Check Your Understanding
The Great American Health Communication Test
2. You are at the doctor’s office because you’ve had strep throat for a week now. The doctor has asked you all sorts of questions about your symptoms and is ready to move onto the physical exam. You still have something to tell him about how you think you got strep and other symptoms he didn’t ask about. What do you do?
- Wait until he asks you if you have any questions at the very end like he always does.
- Wait until the physical exam is over and then briefly explain to him that you have some additional information that may be useful.
- Don’t say anything. Your concern probably doesn’t matter.
- Try to occasionally jump in while he’s examining your throat and simply tell him a few of your "ideas" about how this may have happened.
