The criteria for the Stephenson Award were=20

 ISSSS  =3D=3D=3D=3D

The International Society for the Scientific=20
Study of Subjectivity (ISSSS) established the=20
Stephenson Award to promote Q studies=20
internationally and recognize the authors who=20
demonstrate exceptional achievement in their Q=20
studies. Q-methodology was originated in 1935 by=20
British physicist-psychologist William=20
Stephenson. This award will be granted to one or=20
multiple authors at the ISSSS conference this=20
year, October 2 - 4, in Hamilton, Canada.

To be considered for the award, you have to email=20
your manuscript in Microsoft Word or PDF to the=20
Program Chair, Dr Noori Akhtar-Danesh=20
(daneshn@mcmaster.ca), by Aug. 4, 2008. The=20
detailed criteria for the award are shown below=20
(information I).

To present a paper at the conference, you need to=20
send an abstract to Program Chair  Akhtar-Danesh=20
by June 30, 2008. You may send an abstract by=20
June 30 and complete the manuscript by Aug. 4 to=20
be considered for the award.

Announcement of the Stephenson Award, 2008

The Stephenson Award will be made for the first=20
time in 2008. The award, worth $1000, recognizes=20
outstanding scholarship. The recipient(s) of the=20
Award will be determined by a committee=20
established for this purpose by the Executive=20
Officers of the International Society for the=20
Scientific Study of Subjectivity (ISSSS). The=20
Award recipient(s) will be announced at the=20
Annual Conference of the ISSSS. The recipient(s)'=20
paper will be published in Operant Subjectivity,=20
the official journal for the ISSSS.

The Stephenson Award is granted annually to the=20
author(s) of a paper that demonstrates=20
exceptional achievement in one or more of the=20
following ways:
a)	advancement of knowledge in one or more=20
disciplines through empirical research using Q=20
methodology
b)	practical application and the advancement=20
of practice knowledge generally through empirical=20
work using Q methodology
c)	theoretical or methodological research or=20
scholarship in the field of Q methodology studies
d)	historical or intellectual research or=20
scholarship in the field of William Stephenson=20
studies
e)	dedication and depth by a new-career researcher

To be eligible for the Stephenson Award:
a)	the paper, or its abstract, must have=20
been submitted to the Annual Conference Program=20
Chair according to the call for papers; for 2008,=20
the deadline is 30 June.
b)	the paper must be finished to high=20
academic standards and be submitted by email to=20
the Program Chair; for 2008, the deadline for=20
full papers is 4 August
c)	the paper must be original work, not yet=20
published or under consideration for publication
d)	the principal author must attend the=20
ISSSS conference and present the paper
e)	if the principal author has held a PhD or=20
other terminal degree for no more than 5 years,=20
he or she must make this declaration at the time=20
the paper is submitted to be considered as a=20
new-career researcher
f)	if the paper is joint-authored,=20
applicants for the Award must include a statement=20
detailing the contributions of all authors.

Accommodations and Room Booking

  We are pleased to inform you that the conference=20
will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton.=20
We have received a discounted rate of $129 per=20
night. The rooms will be available at this rate=20
from October 1st until 5th 2008, if you wish to=20
arrive early or stay in town an extra day. Room=20
bookings can be registered as well as paid for=20
online, through the following website. Please=20

Click on "Reserve" and follow the steps by=20
filling in your personal information and credit=20
card number.

We have reserved a set number of rooms that have=20

for all the rooms that are not booked. Please=20
reserve rooms as early as possible; please do not=20
wait until the cutoff date in September. The=20
earlier you reserve, the better for ISSSS.  You=20
can do this immediately on the website and do not=20
have to wait until your abstract is approved.
