Hello all,
Thanks for the positive feedback on the site. I'm glad it is useful.

Norm is right, this is like a reunion. Three or four generations of
Comgraders seem to have made an appearance. It brings warmth to my
heart. For those of you who don't know Norm was chair some time ago (not
saying you're old Norm ;-). He put together a great day program at an
NCA convention just for Comm grad students that really helped me out a
lot with knowing what to expect in getting a doctorate. I think you
looked as I pictured when I finally saw you at a convention. But I hope
the current younger (in year in their program) grad students feel free
to speak and contribute even if we sound like a bunch of old folks
gathered round the campfire talking about old times.

Todd raises a great question "Should we not try to find a way to get the
grad students involved with the list?"
Heck yeah...if it's possible.

Nacho (wasn't it Nathaniel at some point?) seems to think it is and
offer really great ideas. Including reviving the forum,
"Sharing information, discussion about publishing, about editing
manuscripts, about panels in need of members," and spreading the word
about comgrads "in CRTNET, H-Rhetor, Spectra, at NCA) and subscribing
all members of the student division/section at NCA as some basic steps."

The last time a forum was attempted there was not much interest or so it
seemed from my perspective. For the work that went into getting the
panelists, I would say it might be overachieving. Also getting more
people involved seems anticlimactic if we don't have current activity
with (my guess) the one hundred or so current subscribers. Hopefully
I'll get back to you with the current numbers of members.

I'm wondering what the original goals of comgrads were (was there ever a
mission statement?). Anyone familiar with this info? Can these still be
accomplished?

What are interests/ needs of current com students? Have they changed? Is
this mode of communication and networking antiquated already? (Am I
really this much of a pessimist?)
