University is seeking a generalist in rhetorical theory and criticism=20
for a temporary position beginning August 2004.=A0The normal teaching=20
load is three classes per semester; applicants should expect to teach=20
persuasion, public speaking, and upper division theory or criticism=20
class in their area of specialty.

We are a five-person department offering courses in rhetorical theory=20
and criticism.=A0We also offer courses in media criticism.=A0Current=20
offerings in criticism include:=A0media criticism, political, =

free speech, ethics, rhetoric of war and peace, media & the=20
environment, social movements, and visual rhetoric.=A0Theory courses=20
include:=A0classical, metaphor, narrative, dramatism, media framing and=20
argumentation. The department and the College of Liberal Arts encourage=20
collaborative learning, interdisciplinary teaching, and undergraduate=20
research and writing.=A0Willamette is a highly selective liberal arts=20
college with 1700 undergraduates, a College of Law, and a Graduate=20
School of Management. Willamette maintains a strong institutional=20
