Communication and All that Jazz

The New Jersey Communication Conference (NJCA) will hold its 8th annual
conference on Saturday March 27, 2004 at Rutgers University's School of
Communication, Information and Library Studies located at the corner of
College Avenue and Huntington Street in New Brunswick. The daylong
conference offers scholars, students and professionals from academia,
industry and government a forum for the open exchange of ideas, =
information
and research about communication.
Conference program contributions include Rutgers faculty and graduate
students from the Institute for Jazz Studies and the School of
Communication, Information and Library Studies Program along with
contributors from eight additional New Jersey colleges and universities =
and
four institutions outside New Jersey. They include The College of New
Jersey, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Kean University, Montclair State
University, Rider University, Rowan University, The Richard Stockton =
College
of New Jersey and William Patterson University, New York's Pratt =
Institute,
Pennsylvania's Temple University and West Chester University of
Pennsylvania, and Martin-Luther-Universitaet, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.
Conference sessions are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. A
conference reception follows from=20
5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Zimmerli Museum featuring the music of =
the
New Jersey-based jazz group JazzSquad. The Zimmerli Museum is located =
at
the corner of George Street and Hamilton Avenue on the Rutgers-New =
Brunswick
campus.

Nearly 30 panels, representing the research and expertise of over 100
contributors, are scheduled for presentation. Communication and health,
comparative studies of media coverage of news, the impact of =
communication
and information technologies (e.g., mobile phones, computer systems) on =
work
and everyday life, communication dimensions of organizational leadership =
are
but some of the topics considered. The metaphoric links between Jazz =
and
Communication inspires this year's conference theme, Communication and =
All
that Jazz, and multiple presentations explore this theme.=20
