Dear colleagues convening special working groups,
The following information has so far been received about special
sessions:
PROGRAMS:
1. MMR (Media, Myth and Ritual)
2. MMR-NEQTAR (Network for Qualitative TV Audience Research)
3. Revisiting International News Flow Theory (*abstracts included)
PROPOSALS/NOTIFICATIONS:
1. Satellite TV and Cultural Future of Asia-Pacific Region
2. Comic Art and Visual Communication.
3. Working on the Information Highway: Communication Strategies and
Policies.
4. Media and Popular Culture.
If I have inadvertantly failed to record a submission, kindly inform
me and I will rectify this.
Kindly note the following deadlines to which we should attempt to
adhere:
May 1st. Convenors should receive completed papers.
May 15th. Convenors should send abstracts of accepted papers to the
Secretary-General, Slavko Splichal, so that he can
have them included in the conference publication.
June 1st. Final programs should be sent by working group
convenors to the convenor of the Sydney
Organising Committee, Virginia Nightingale, with
copies to the President, Prof. Mowlana and myself.
All sessions will be of 2 hours duration. Working groups are urged to
limit their programmes to one 2-hour session each.
