Dear IAMCR Members,

     You are invited to participate in discussions and debates on
communication and human rights at the World Congress of the
IAMCR in Sydney, Australia.  The IAMCR Human Rights Committee
has cooperated with the office of the IAMCR President, the Sydney
Organizing Committee, the Law Section, and the Participatory
Communication Section in developing the following human rights
program for the Sydney conference:

HUMAN RIGHTS PROGRAM
for the World Congress of the IAMCR
Sydney, Australia, August 18-22


1.   Human Rights Plenary
      Monday, August 19, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.


2.   Open Forum on Communication & Human Rights
      Monday, August 19, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
               (All IAMCR members are invited to participate in an open
                discussion to form a human rights interest group within
                the IAMCR and to support the IAMCR Human Rights
                Committee in developing a human rights agenda for the
                next two years.)


3.   Citizens' Communication Rights on the Global Information Highway
      Roundtable debate jointly organized by
      the IAMCR Human Rights Committee and the Law Section
      Tuesday, August 20, 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.


4.   Human Rights, Culture, and Participatory Communication I
      Joint Research Panel of the
      IAMCR Human Rights Committee and the
      Participatory Communication Section
      Tuesday, August 20, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.


5.   Human Rights, Culture, and Participatory Communication II
      Joint Research Panel of the
      IAMCR Communication & Human Rights Committee and the
      Participatory Communication Section
      Wednesday, August 21, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
