THE UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN,
THE FACULTY OF HUMANITIES
invites applications for
Associate professorship in media science with special reference to media
sociology. Applicants with special research qualifications in the
audiovisual media television, video or computer will be preferred.
Further information may be requested from Stig Hjarvard, head of Department
of Film & Media Studies, Telephone: + 45 35328113; fax: + 45 35328110
General conditions:
Associate professors will be expected to have qualifications equivalent to
those that could be achieved in the course of fulfilling an assistant
professor position. In evaluating applications, the main emphasis will be
placed on an assessment of the applicants' research qualifications and
applicants should be able to demonstrate a high level of scholarly
attainment within the relevant academic discipline. Associate professors
must be able to undertake teaching and supervision at all levels, including
the supervision of PhD students.
Since the successful applicants must be able to participate in all
departemental and faculty activities, including examing and administration,
it is expected that those without a knowledge of Danish will acquire an
adequate knowledge of the language within two years at most, a condition of
permanent appointment.
Salary and other conditions of appointment are those agreed between the
Danish Ministry of Finance and the Organizations of Academic Graduates.
Applications for the position must include full information and
documentation of the applicant's scholarly qualifications and, where
possible, teaching experience. Applications should include a full list of
publications and should indicate which publications the applicant wishes to
be taken into account in the evalutions of his or her scholarly, teaching
and, where relevant, other qualifications. Three copies of these
publications should be included in the application. Material in electronic
form (such as diskettes) is not accepted.
The appointment committee is only required to take specified research
material into account to the extent that it is necessary to make an
assessment of applicant's qualifications.
The names of the members of the appointment committee will be sent to the
applicants. The complete recommendation made by the committee will be sent
to all the applicants.
Applications (marked j.nr. 04-221-584/96-4218) should be addressed to the
Rektor of Copenhagen University, and sent to the Humanities Faculty,
Njalsgade 80, DK-2300 Copenhagen S, Denmark, so that they reach the Faculty
no later than 12 noon on 2nd September 1996.
