reetings from Japan. Sorry if you've read of this elsewhere. My biggest
Web development project has been rated beyond my hopes by the WWW
Virtual Library. Nearly 100 of my publications on bilingualism in Japan
and East-West biculturalism are listed, with many originally print
publications made available online. The "Bilingualism and
Japanology Intersection" has been given a four-star rating, very useful
for Asian Studies social science research,
by the Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library, based at the Australian
National University, in its online newsletter "What's New in WWW Asian
Studies" (URL http://coombs.anu.edu.au/asia-www-news.html. Here is an
excerpt from its mailing list version:

Subject: [****] Bilingualism and Japanology Intersection

WWW Asian Studies Announcements: October 1997

"Links to about 40 publications available online by Japanologist/EFL
Professor Steve McCarty in Japan. Links also to a Japanese language
version of the same, and to some of the academic organizations involved.
Includes studies on Japan from original sources, Japanese-English
bilingualism, intercultural communication, and on efforts to indigenize
the English language teaching profession in Japan. This Website also
introduces the Japan Journal of Multilingualism and Multiculturalism,
plus hi-tech approaches to trans-Pacific networking, viz. entirely
online academic conferences, a Webbed MOO, an Asia-Pacific
electronic journal and the East-West Discourse List."
